Dawn Berry, president and CEO of PHD Hospitality, spoke with Hotel News Now at this year’s Hotel Data Conference about working on a tight budget and her company’s approach to management.
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE—As the hotel industry nears the end of the current cycle, hoteliers are looking for ways to control their costs while still providing the best experience possible to guests.
Dawn Berry, president and CEO of PHD Hospitality, was a panelist on the “Managing a tight budget” session during this year’s Hotel Data Conference. Before her panel, Berry shared some insights on how management companies can save money without sacrificing service.
“So I think where there is an opportunity, where I see most people cut corners that actually costs them more than they’re saving is maintenance and housekeeping and basically staffing levels,” she said. “They’re cutting labor at the expense of maintaining the product, taking care of the guests and meeting their demands and meeting just the needs of the hotel.”
