Kenneth Gaw, President and Managing Principal of Gaw Capital Partners, accepting on behalf of the Gaw Family, will be presented with the Global First Award, and Jerry Schwartz, CEO of the Schwartz Family Co. will be presented with the Australia First Award.

COSTA MESA, California--Each year at HotelsWorld, the leading annual conference for hotel owners and investors in Australia and New Zealand, the First Awards are presented to recognise and honour the contribution of true industry pioneers. Awards are announced in the categories of Global First and Australia First. Prior recipients include Adrian Zecha, Harry Triguboff, KP Ho, Paul Constantinou, Richard Hartman, the Vidor Family, Richard Bailey, David Seargeant, Rachel Argaman, and the Farrell Family.

The First Awards move away from the concept of honours based on seniority and age, by focusing instead on people who have made a unique contribution to the world of hotel management or ownership, by achieving something unique and special. Something that is a genuine First. In 2018, Kenneth Gaw, President and Managing Principal of Gaw Capital Partners, accepting on behalf of the Gaw Family, will be presented with the Global First Award, and Jerry Schwartz, CEO of the Schwartz Family Co. will be presented with the Australia First Award.

Kenneth co-founded Gaw Capital Partners in 2005, and has been its President and Managing Principal. Gaw Capital is a uniquely positioned private equity real estate fund management company focusing on selected markets globally. Gaw Capital has raised five commingled funds targeting the Greater China and APAC since 2005. The firm also manages opportunistic funds in Vietnam and the US, a hospitality fund targeting the Pan-Asia, UK creative office vehicle, while providing services for separate account direct investments globally. It has raised equity in excess of USD$ 10 billion and commands assets of over USD$ 18 billion under management as of Q1 2018.

Jerry Schwartz is the CEO for the family business that is the largest private company owner of hotel rooms in Australia, having nearly 4,000 rooms in Sydney, Newcastle and the Hunter Region, Canberra and Melbourne, which are managed by four different management companies.

The Awards will be presented on 25 July 2018 in Sydney during HotelsWorld, in front of an audience of industry CEOs and other senior executives from all over the world. Further information on the First Awards and on HotelsWorld 2018 can be found at Registration for HotelsWorld is now open and the early registration fee ends 16 May.
