The 14th Annual Hotel Investment Conference - South Asia (HICSA) was hosted for the first time under the Hotelivate banner at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai April 4-5, 2018.

April 11, 2018 – Manav Thadani, Founder Chairman of Hotelivate, announced the opening of the firm’s first overseas office in Singapore as well as its alliance with LW Hospitality Advisors at the 14th Annual Hotel Investment Conference - South Asia (HISCA). HICSA was hosted for the first time under the Hotelivate banner at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai April 4-5, 2018.

HICSA 2018 panels and sessions were impressive and incorporated a number of keynote speakers and Ted Talk styled master classes. To name a few notable speakers from the event:

  • Managing Director, Geometry Global Encompass, Rohan Abbas

Many of the industry experts, forecasted 2018 to be a promising year for the hospitality sector. Bagla touched on a number of key points in regard to the government’s optimistic views on the country’s prospects. He shared insights regarding government initiatives on startups in India; technological India and GST; small emerging marketing in the Indian ecosystem; demographics and the future of businesses in the country.

Similarly, Marriott’s Sorenson and Hyatt’s Hoplamazian both spoke highly about India and South East Asia and what sets the region apart from the rest of the world in terms of its culture and people. Sorenson also spoke at length on the Marriott-Starwood merger sharing, “With each passing day, we are more and more convinced that the deal made sense to do.” Hoplamazian spoke candidly on the future plans of Hyatt Hotels in India and shed light on the prospect of newer and more innovative projects such as the Andaz in the coming years.

HICSA covered all aspects of hospitality ranging from vacation ownership, mixed-use projects, room aggregation, consumer engagement, legal issues to architecture and design. These concepts were presented by the experts in the form of “master classes.”

Also presented at the Conference were awards for the most outstanding new hotels in South Asia. Winners included:

  • Andaz Delhi, New Delhi in the Luxury & Upper Upscale Segment
  • Le Méridien Goa, Calangute, Goa in the Upscale Segment
  • Hyatt Place Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu in the Upper Mid-Market Segment
  • Hotel Mercure Dwarka, Gujarat in the Mid-Market Segment
  • Ginger Mumbai (Andheri East), Maharashtra, in the Budget & Economy Segment

The winners in each of the categories were determined by HICSA 2018 delegates via an online voting process.
